The CELTA Diaries: day 13

Today the team was reduced to the Assistant Course Tutor and I as the Main Course Tutor had external commitments. As such, I was delivering and input session as well as being observed by the CPs during the afternoon session usually given over to Teaching Practice. My input session on Classroom Management had lots of activities within, including using string to indicate interaction patterns between the tutor and the students on a desk plan made by the CPs using mini whiteboards. The activities were looped and there was a lot of variety (too much variety?) but my Teacher Talk Time was too high to serve as a good model. The observed session was one I was more familiar with and it got the learners listening, reading and speaking and so served as a better model lesson than my input in the morning. I must try harder to stop gabbling,  starting now.
