The CELTA Diaries: day 5

Today was our first visit from the external assessor. After a week of running around preparing for the inspection, we had most things in place but the tutors are still unable to make copies on their ID cards.
The CPs were observing experienced tutors in the other campus, which gave us an opportunity to have a good discussion with the assessor. I had a lot of help from him in terms of running the course as an embedded part of the TESOL degree.
During the afternoon, an input session on sentence stress and form was delivered and the rest of the first afternoon session was given over to preparing Teaching Practice for Monday.
The final session used the classroom observation DVD on classroom management. The tutor judiciously gave feedback on only the most important aspects of the associated exercise booklet as everyone was exhausted.
